At Maveris, we appreciate the opportunity to recognize our team members for who they are and their contribution to the team. Our “Maveris Selfie” seeks to highlight the personality, experience, and individuality of our team members.
For this selfie, we are happy to introduce Jessica Simmons!

Hi Jessica!  Can you start with an introduction of yourself and what you do at Maveris?

I’m Jessica – I was Active Duty Air Force for about 5 years then transitioned to the Reserves. After about a year of being in the Reserves I completely separated. I’m from Tennessee, but right now I live in Louisiana. I’m married to a man that never stops supporting me and pushing me, and together we have 2 kids (an 8 year old son and a 5 year old daughter).

I came onboard with Maveris in January of this year as a Technical Recruiter. My day to day consists of managing our Applicant Tracking System, screening resumes, and talking to candidates. Usually I am the
first representation of Maveris for our applicants so I take a lot of pride in my position. From initial contact, I’m side by side with our potential new team members all the way through the recruiting process, until they start their new position. I appreciate being right along side them so they know they can count on me for anything they need. Outside of Recruiting, I love helping in any other area I can. I love learning new things and being a helping hand when needed.

What is something from your professional career that you are proud of?

In 2022 (6 years after joining the military) I pinned on the rank of Technical Sergeant (TSgt). I’m most proud of this because I pinned on this rank in less time than my husband did.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

If I could have any superpower I would choose teleportation. I love to travel and take random trips, but the time it takes to get to these places is always a big deciding factor on whether or not it’s worth going. If I could teleport, I’d probably spend more time in Disney World or in the mountains.

Do you have any pets?

I have a one year old chocolate lab, named Jazzie. We just got her about 2 months ago and I don’t think my kids have let her take a break since then – they’ve had her going nonstop.

What’s something you’ve done, but will never do again?

During my last assignment in the Air Force, I was a part of the United States Air Force Parachute Team. They let me go through the program of earning my wings by completing 5 free fall jumps. This is the only skydiving program in the world where your very first jump is done by yourself. I finished my 5 jumps to earn my wings but will NEVER jump out of a plane again. Let’s just say it took a lot of motivation to get me back on the plane after the first jump.

What did you want to be when you grew up? Are you doing it?

Growing up, I was an avid soccer player. If I wasn’t in school or at work you could probably catch me on the soccer field. I always wanted to be a professional soccer player. Now, I’m way too out of shape to
run around on a soccer field but I do coach my son’s soccer team so I’d call it a small win.

In Jessica’s first few months with Maveris she has made a tremendous impact. She has helped redefine and enhance our recruiting process, as well as train our managers and team leaders. Her interactions with existing and potential team members make the process simple for everyone. One of the main goals at Maveris is to treat everyone as a person, not just a number, even before they become a team member. Jessica excels at meeting each candidate where they are and helping the hiring team find the candidate that builds out the team, as they serve our customers.
