For this selfie, we are happy to introduce Scott Farquharson!
Hi Scott! Can you start with an introduction of yourself and what you do at Maveris?
Hello…I’m Scott Farquharson. I’ve been working in full cycle talent acquisition for roughly 20 years in traditional agency, consulting, corporate and RPO. Over the last 10 years I’ve primarily focused on Cyber Security talent acquisition in addition to having successfully worked in IT, engineering and emerging tech. I really enjoy engaging with hiring teams and industry talent in an effort to bring successful outcomes to a close. Every person I meet or partner with is uniquely different, and that to me is pretty exciting! I joined Maveris in October 2023 as part of the talent acquisition team.
Outside of my day to day, I enjoy spending time with my family, tackling projects around the home, tinkering in the garage and consuming anything tech related. I’m a continuous learner, recently completed my ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) certification and determining which cyber cert is next!
What made you choose or how did you end up in this career field?
I have always had an interest in anything cyber, tech or engineering related. Even if I don’t consider myself the most hyper-social person, I do enjoy talking with professionals in those industries, learning about what they do, what they’re passionate about, and matching them with a position that closely aligns with their career path.
What was it about Maveris that made you interested in joining the team?
I had a list of things I envisioned in my heads up display. I was looking for a company that has a portion of their business tied to federal programs and provides cyber or IT solutions as part of their portfolio. Equally as important was a company that champions a healthy, inclusive culture and one where I could hopefully make a positive impact. Oh, and the organization must be growing. I realized that was a really tall order and shouldn’t expect to hit every bullet point on, yet ended up doing so with Maveris. I suppose the icing on the cake was when I found Maveris Labs. I thought that was really cool!
What is one thing you appreciate about working at Maveris?
Culture is likely the biggest thing I appreciate. It’s directly affected by the level of engagement and approachability within the company…making it a place you want to work in. The impression I get is everyone is thinking about how to improve on what was done the day, the week, the month or the year before. Managers are accessible and encourage new ideas…no one sits in an ivory tower.
What energizes you at work?
The opportunity to partner with hiring teams, engage industry talent for whatever discipline we’re seeking, and connecting the dots for successful outcomes.
What would we most likely find you doing on the weekend?
If I’m not at a soccer game, I’m either tinkering in the garage or searching for zen in a home project.
Since Scott joined the team we have been at a sprinting pace, but he hit the ground running. With his past experience in talent acquisition within IT and cybersecurity disciplines, he was able to parlay his knowledge into the work we do at Maveris and become an immediate contributor to the team. We are glad to have Scott as a member of the team and look forward to his ability to help us grow and mature talent acquisition.
